Wizard Shows
The Wizard of Oz show ran very smoothly and I really enjoy being on stage again. I found the first show quite difficult because of the lights and costume made it very hot especially as the scarecrow is a very over the top character to play. The second and third shows I did were a lot easier because I was more confident and I was fully recovered from the cold I had over the weekend before. Im very glad I practised as much as I did with my dancing, singing, and accent because otherwise I dont think that I would have been nearly as good as I was. Although I think I did well, there were lots of improvements I could have made with my character and staying "wobbly" for the whole show so if I ever have to play a similar character to Scarecrow then I will know to keep it in mind. Overall I really enjoyed the shows and it was another new experience that was very different to Snow White and Ruby.
Wizard Tech and Dress Rehearsal
I watched Team 1 do the technical rehearsal of Wizard and how Bill set up the music and sound effects. Jo set up the lighting on the lighting board, Sue sorted out the props table and Jo S sorted the costumes. For the dress rehearsal I was the Scarecrow and we did a full run of the show from start to finish without stopping. It went quiet well except for one or two occasions where lines were forgotten and we had to cover. We had to only stop once at scene 7 when there was a bit of difficulty with moving the set before scene 8. After slightly changing the order of the script the show ran a lot more smoothly and there was time for the dads backstage to swap the set before scene 8. After learning my lines and sorting out my notes (Like I said I would last time) I found these rehearsals much easier, but I still have a long way to go before the shows. But, in the dress rehearsal I had a bit of trouble keeping my american accent all the way through the show, which i hadn't known before we did the full run so I will have to ask some of my friends to help me secure that before the shows begin! Once in costume I found some of the actions I had put in, such as the forwards roll, became tricky due to the restrictive dungarees that were part of my costume so I need to make sure I practise before going on stage for the first time on Tuesday!
